Website in a Week: How Our 7-Day Website Launch Works

Can you really get a website in a week? Here is our day-by-day launch process, what you need to have ready, and which projects suit a 7-day build.

Published 6 min read

Yes, a professional small business website can be designed, built and launched in a week, as long as the scope is focused and the content is ready to go. Our one-week launch covers Starter-size sites of up to five pages: Day 1 is a discovery call and brief, Days 2 to 5 cover content, design and build, Day 6 is review and revisions, and Day 7 is launch with SEO, analytics and Search Console set up.

A fast website is not the same as a rushed one. The reason a week is possible is that the work is planned tightly and decisions are made quickly, not that steps are skipped. This post walks through exactly how our website in a week process works, day by day, and what you can do to keep it on track.

Who a one-week website launch is (and is not) right for

The one-week timeline works best for businesses that need a credible, fast, well-built website without a long project. Typical examples include:

  • A new business that needs to be online before an opening date or launch
  • A trade or local service business that has been relying on social media or word of mouth
  • A business with an outdated site that is embarrassing to send people to
  • A sole trader or consultant who needs a clear, professional presence

It suits sites of up to five pages, such as Home, About, Services, Reviews and Contact. That lines up with our Starter package, which starts from £899, and you can see the full details on our pricing page.

When a longer build makes more sense

Some projects need more time, and it is better to be honest about that up front. A seven-day launch is not realistic for:

  • Sites with many service or location pages
  • Online shops with product catalogues, delivery rules and stock
  • Booking systems with deposits, multiple practitioners and calendar sync
  • Integrations with CRMs, accounting software or custom databases
  • Projects where content still needs to be written from scratch over several rounds

Those builds follow a longer plan, typically a few weeks for a larger brochure site and longer for complex functionality. If you need an online shop or a booking website, we will give you a realistic timeline after the discovery call.

Day 1: Discovery call and brief

Everything starts with a conversation. On Day 1 we have a discovery call to understand your business, your customers and what you want the website to do. We will talk about:

  • The services you offer and which ones matter most
  • The areas you cover, such as Paisley, Glasgow, Renfrewshire or further afield
  • Who your customers are and what they usually ask before they buy
  • What a good result looks like: phone calls, quote requests, bookings or visits
  • Your branding, including logo, colours and any photos you already have
  • Competitors or other websites you like, and why

By the end of the day you get a short written brief that sets out the pages, the goal of each page and what we need from you. That brief is the backbone of the whole week.

Day 2: Sitemap and content

On Day 2 we lock down the sitemap and the content. The sitemap is the list of pages and how they connect. For a Starter site it is usually simple, but getting it right matters because it shapes navigation and SEO.

Content is where most website projects slow down, so we tackle it early. Depending on what you have, we will either:

  • Edit and structure the text you supply so it reads clearly and is easy to scan
  • Write draft copy based on the discovery call for you to check
  • Plan headings and page titles around the searches your customers actually make

We also gather images. Your own photos of your work, team and premises are almost always better than stock images, so if you have them, send them over.

Day 3: Design

With the structure and content in place, Day 3 is design. We create the look of the site around your brand, starting with the mobile layout because that is how most local customers will see it.

The design focuses on a few practical things:

  • A clear headline that says what you do and where
  • An obvious next step on every page, such as call, request a quote or book
  • Trust signals such as reviews, accreditations and photos of real work
  • Readable text, good colour contrast and sensible spacing

You see the design before it is built, so any big changes in direction happen now rather than at the end.

Days 4 and 5: Build

Days 4 and 5 are the build. We hand-code the site with modern frameworks rather than stacking up a page builder and plugins. That is a big part of why our sites load quickly and score well on Core Web Vitals, which we explain in our guide to Core Web Vitals for business owners.

During the build we:

  • Build every page responsively for mobile, tablet and desktop
  • Optimise images so pages load fast on phone connections
  • Wire contact forms to your inbox and test them
  • Add page titles, meta descriptions, headings and structured data
  • Set up clean URLs and an XML sitemap
  • Check accessibility basics such as headings, labels and contrast

Day 6: Review and revisions

On Day 6 you get a working preview of your website to click through on your own phone and computer. This is your chance to check details: spellings, phone numbers, opening hours, prices and photos.

We collect your feedback in one round and make the revisions the same day where possible. The faster and clearer the feedback, the smoother this goes. A single list of changes is far easier to work through than several separate messages.

Day 7: Launch, SEO, analytics and Search Console

Day 7 is launch day. We connect your domain, make sure the site is served securely over HTTPS, and run final checks. Launch is not just flicking a switch, though. We also set up the foundations that help you get found and measure results:

  • Google Analytics, so you can see visitors and where they come from
  • Google Search Console, so Google can find your pages and you can see the searches you appear for
  • Sitemap submission, so your pages are discovered quickly
  • SEO basics checked across every page

After launch we can look after hosting, updates and changes through our hosting and maintenance services, so the site stays fast and secure.

How to keep your one-week website on track

The single biggest factor in a seven-day launch is how quickly information flows. You can help by:

  • Gathering your logo, photos, reviews and key details before Day 1
  • Being available for a short call or message each day
  • Giving one consolidated round of feedback rather than drip-feeding changes
  • Deciding on your domain name and having access to it

If content or feedback takes longer, the launch simply moves back a little. Nothing gets cut to hit a date.

FAQs

Can you really build a website in a week?

Yes, for Starter-size sites of up to five pages where content and feedback come back promptly. The process is planned day by day, from discovery call on Day 1 to launch on Day 7.

What do I need to provide for a one-week website?

Your logo, any photos of your work or premises, your services and prices, contact details, opening hours and a few customer reviews. If you do not have written copy, we can draft it from the discovery call.

Will a website built in a week rank on Google?

It will have solid SEO foundations from day one, including page titles, structured data, a sitemap and Search Console. Rankings then build over time, especially with ongoing local SEO work. Our local SEO checklist for Scottish businesses covers the next steps.

What if my project is bigger than five pages?

We will plan a longer timeline that fits the scope. Larger sites, shops and booking systems usually take several weeks, and we will give you a clear schedule after the discovery call.

If you need a website live quickly, contact us to book a discovery call. We will tell you straight away whether your project suits a one-week launch.
