Tethered or untethered, 7kW or more, and why load management matters more than the brand.
Most homes in the UK have a single-phase supply, which means a 7kW charger is the practical maximum. That's enough to add roughly 25–30 miles of range per hour — plenty for an overnight top-up.
Tethered chargers have the cable attached, which is convenient. Untethered units are tidier and work with any car, but you'll keep a cable in the boot.
More important than the brand is load management. A smart charger can monitor your home's total demand and throttle back if the oven, shower and charger are all running at once, protecting your main fuse.
We survey your supply first so there are no surprises, then recommend a charger that suits your car, tariff and parking.
